NATIONAL EDUCATORS' ASSOCIATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
BACKGROUND
Cambodian Educators’ Association for Development (N.E.A.D) is a local organization established on January 14th 2007. The NEAD is registered and recognized by the ministry of Interior, Cambodia on April 4th 2007.
GOAL
- Promote EFA and eliminate Child Labour, WFCL
- Enhance the living conditions and conditions of work for teachers and education workers
- Enhance the quality of education both in private and public sector
- Organize teachers to speak with one voice and advocate/negotiate to increase the salary and welfare
VISION
- Fight demanding increase in salaries for teachers to enable them to live with dignity
- Improve the quality of education.
- Promote education for all and eliminate Child Labour especially the Worst Form of Child Labour
- Enhance the role of the women in leadership.
- Protect teachers’ interest and rights.
MISSION
- Work with Government specially the ministry of education, NGOs and Private sectors to improve the quality of education, gender and to promote EFA
- Advocate for salary increase for teachers to enhance the standard of living condition.
- Protect teachers’ interest and rights.
- Promote democracy and human/trade union rights.
OBJECTIVES
- To conduct awareness raising programmes on the CL-WFCL,HIV-AIDS, ILS, Child Right, Gender and others programmes to build up teachers’ skills and quality.
- To empower and encourage teachers to have one voice.
- To advocate and participate in social development and social justice.
- To build up unity among teachers in the country and the teachers in the world.
ACTIVITIES
- Liaise and cooperate with NGOs, National and international organizations both in the private and public sectors.
- Organize teachers to be one voice for negotiating with government/ministries.
- Provide education/training and professional skill for capacity building of teachers.
- Support the law and advocate effective law implementation.
- Conduct research and disseminate relevant information on the laws, ILS and working conditions for teachers.
- Organize and strengthen the teachers’ net work throughout the provinces and cities.
STRATEGIES
- Strengthen abilities of NEAD’s working groups
- Liaise and cooperate with national and international organizations
- Organize and set up key persons in provinces and cities
- Build up awareness and information on the law, gender, education, condition of work and ILSs.
- Campaign for recruiting members and dues collection
- Encourage leaders and activists to recruit more members and collect dues.
